Great beings that are seen as gods in Uvakone Kulkodar, and highly respected by all. Highly intelligent, they survive longer than any known species; some of the longest living dragons have been around since time itself began. Their own creation stories are unknown to any other than the eldest of the eldest.
Appearance:
Generally large creatures, some growing as large as a decent-sized town. Reptilian, scaled from nose to tail, with slitted eyes. Their colors could range from deep black, to precious gems such as ruby or emerald, to opalescent, to pure white. Wings are made of bone, with thin membrane to catch the wind. Some dragons have markings on their wings, while others have gradients, or just one color. Generally, dragons have four legs - two powerful back ones and two smaller front ones used for climbing, tearing, carrying, etc. Some subspecies have two legs, and their "forelegs" would be their wings.
History:
A sacrifice of the most ancient of dragons birthed the realm of Drannor, a refuge for them and other races, a refuge from the demons threatening all the realms. They hid away in the caves, allowing the bipedals to lead a simple life above ground while they watched and waited. When the demons began attacking regularly, they participated in the defense of the village of Drannor
Dragons in society:
To the public eye, they seem to not associate with other races much, save for those who are bonded. When sacrifices are made on the mountain, a dragon will appear to claim it, thereby pleasing the orcs.
In secret, they have a strict hierarchy. The oldest ancients are the leaders, and they watch over and try to protect their own, as well as their bonded. They will go so far as to create their own safe realms, though only the oldest and strongest dragons have that sort of power. The younger and weaker dragons serve the ancients, observing the goings-on and reporting back to them - much like scouts or spies. If there is danger of war, the ancients will decide to take action - either suggesting to Kings and Queens of a solution before blood sheds, or moving their people themselves. Their goal, ultimately, is to keep the peace. To create a safe, long-term option for living.
Mundane tasks (farming, craftsmanship, trading) or the machinations and institutions (religion, science, politics) of shorter lived races are beneath them and typically are left to those that created or need such. Money is seen as unnecessary as anything they may need or want can be procured through barter or force, but shiny objects are always appreciated, at an instinctual level. It is unknown why they do covet shinies, but dragon hordes are fact, and legendary.
Racial abilities:
Abilities tend to vary among dragons based upon lineage, usually corresponding to the dominant color of scales, as well as increase in strength based upon age.
Red Dragons: Immune to fire and heat, weak to ice and cold. Flame breath weapon.
White Dragons: Immune to ice and cold, weak to fire and heat. Freeze breath weapon.
Black Dragons: Immune to acid, weak to electricity Acid breath weapon.
Green Dragons: Immune to Poison, weak to fire. Poison cloud breath weapon.
Blue Dragons: Immune to electricity, weak to water. Electricity breath weapon.
Weaknesses are listed above.
There are common abilities among all of them, usually due to their physical characteristics, such as flight, claws, strength. They have the ability to transform into 2 of three forms: Human, hybrid, and dragon.
